Focus On: New Council Members
Richard “Rick” Stelk
Richard Stelk, is an Army veteran who spent 27 years with Chevron Corporation on various management positions. His professional career with Chevron took him to various parts of the world from Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Europe, Continental U.S., as well as North America.
His passion ranges from managing his own financial investments, real estate development, to community involvement as volunteer for various USO centers.
“Rick” Stelk has been an advocate for the USO going back to the 70s in the Bay Area, volunteering for the downtown USO in San Francisco during the Vietnam Era. Prior to coming on board the USO Hawaii Advisory Council, Rick volunteered for the Honolulu Airport center for four years. He is more than happy to volunteer during special times of the year such as Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve or New Year’s Eve, trading schedules with other volunteers so they can spend time with their family. Since 2006, Rick has been actively involved with USO at Palm Springs, possibly the smallest USO center in the world.
Rick likes the challenge of working with a team of volunteers that explore outreach, fund development, fundraising, and enhancing operations procedures. Nowadays, he splits his time volunteering for USO Hawaii as well as for USO Palm Springs, California. Rick’s recent entry on the Hawaii Advisory Council gains the organization significant expertise for fund development and volunteer training and enhancement.
Kyle Brockett
Kyle Brockett serves concurrently as Assistant VP and Branch Manager, of Bank of Hawaii Kaneohe and MCBH. He brings a lot of dynamism, new perspectives, and diverse volunteer community involvement within the Windward District of Oahu.
“Having grown up as a dependent of a Naval Officer, I know how important our military service members are to the future and well-being of this great country. What many people don’t see is what exists behind these brave personnel…the spouses and families that provide unwavering support. The USO is so unique and so important in the mission to provide care and assistance to both the service members and their families. For me to be a part of such a great organization is an honor. I eagerly look forward to providing my support to the USO, as it has provided support for my family as well.”
